so damn the design is no more.
after about a year in the freelance artist game i have decided that it is not for me. ive had fun drawing for other people and working on projects that helped contribute to the music scene in some way. im greatful for all your positive feedback and kind words and for helping establish damn the design and myself as a local artist. but that's where ive figured i needed to draw the line.

im starting to feel like ive been whoring out my talent to make a few bucks. and that makes me very uncomfortable. i dont like being told what to do, what to change, what to fix and how MY artwork should look like. no amount of money should ever make me think twice about what im drawing. i used to draw for myself and be happy with the result, but having to draw for other people is completely different. i no longer have control of what makes me happy. it has to be what makes my CLIENT happy. and other people's opinions is the last thing i should ever give a shit about

if im going to hate my job than have it be something else other than something i used to be very passionate about.

so in short, i will not be doing any custom artwork for a long time. i will try to get back into the habit of drawing again, and if anything i might sell some pieces as is. but i no longer want people to try and manipulate how i draw. that to me seems really fucked up.

my website will still be around only to serve as a portfolio of my work.

and once again, thanks to everyone who supported me and gave me the opportunity to do something on a larger scale. its just too bad it turned out to be something i didnt want to do.

in other news, starting early september i will be going to school and i will be taking a civil/CAD technology course for the first year and then architectural engineering for second. and then maybe one day i will finally get myself a real job haha.

this morning me and adrienne found out that kaylee was put to sleep. i knew it was going to happen sooner than later, but i dont think i couldve prepared myself for the devasting grief and sadness i have been feeling all day. kaylee wasn't technically my dog, but i loved and took care of that dog like she was my own. i loved that grumpy fuzzball with all my heart. i never lost someone i love. funny that my first experience would be a furry dog. i keep remembering seeing her in the morning when i woke up and how she would lay on my stomach and slowly inch her way up to lick my face. or how whenever i would fart it would startle her and she would give this funny look towards my butt haha. im gonna miss when she would rest her head on my lap while i was eating at the kitchen table, hoping i would drop some food on her face. i even miss her stinky ass breath and the little clumps of poop that cling to her fuzzy bum.

kaylee, we will always remember you. we love you. and we will miss you so much.

so randy finally got himself a new job. after working for wasabi for over a year and a half i got off my ass and actually made an attempt to get myself a new job. i am now a computer graphics technician for strata crystal. woo hoo! let's hope it doesnt suck. i start this tuesday. i had to buy myself some clean and presentable work clothes which kinda sucks, but whatever. i get paid more and i also get benefits after my training. i'll be working in the st.vital mall. dunno what to think of that, since im not a huge fan of malls but im sure it'll be worth it. mel, i work DIRECTLY across from your work, hahaha. carpool!

kinda sucks that i had to leave wasabi, even after all the shit talking about that place i will miss everybody. but whatever, i'll still hangout with everyone once in awhile so no biggie. i still have a week to go at wasabi, but i think we're having a going away bbq thing at my place or something with the guys. should be a riot.

anyways, this job is full time. so i dont know if i'll ever have enough time to do my DTD shit. i have been working on some stuff though...

i got an interesting email from some guy on the flight forum today. basically, the flight forum is a place where artists can show their work for people to see and sometimes criticize. anyways, this is the email i got:

"Look, I'm not going to preach at you. But a lot of people are going to find your Batman drawing offensive. If nothing else, it is lacking in taste.
You've posted at least one illustration before that would be considered obscene (The CD design.) I've watched other forums go down in flames because somebody took their artistic freedom too far and starting using it to offend others. Please don't do this to FLIGHT. It's just too good a community."

in case you dont know what drawing he's talking about, this is it:

i wrote him a really long ass email. basically boiled down to me saying that taste and personal religious beliefs should NOT be a basis for CONSTRUCTIVE critcism.

some people, not all, but some people take that religious shit WAY too fucking seriously. when they start pushing that shit onto me and my own artwork through an email, that really sets me off. fucking retarded idiot.
